The L.O.T.E program 'Animal Kingdom' has been developed for beginner primary aged learners, years 3-4 mainly. The program covers a full term's work and the tasks presented to the students are linked to the different learning areas in the Curriculum.
'Animal Kingdom' is a self access centre. The program contains a total of 15 tasks and each of them is presented at three different levels of difficulty. Tasks are colour coded by learning areas and symbol coded to indicate students what is involved or required from them.
Learners will select the tasks in their own preferred order but they must record their completion on their checklist in their file which is provided by the teacher.
The classroom will not be a teacher centred but children interests and at the same time each of them can work at their pace.
However, the L.O.T.E. teacher still will use the first 10-15 minutes of the lessons with starters or icebreakers to refresh or introduce new vocabulary or grammar. As well a support sheet with basic vocabulary and typical expressions is also provided for each student.
Students will work individually, pairs or groups according to the different sort of tasks.
The aim of this program is to offer enjoyable
and productive resources and tasks so learners can explore the Spanish
Language in a non-threatening environment.
